So last Ramadan we fed 30 people (a person a day) and this year she is still breastfeeding so we're going to do the same inshallah. If I recall correctly the stipulation for paying Fidya instead of making up the fast was breastfeeding for the whole year in between the Ramadans. Wallahu Alam (Allah knows best).
Nomad78

Re: Preparing For Ramadan

Brother Suhaib, just a small comment. It was an interesting discussion - as we began talking about the hadeeth of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, somewhere in the conversation, he interjected the idea that, "Well Aisha went to war with 'Ali because she wanted the caliphate for her father."

I did explain to him the mistake, and he became quite silent. Needless to say, I don't think he knows much, and what he knows is mixed up in jumbles.

Re: Lessons From Surah Luqman (part 2)

It was narrated from ‘Ali that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Pen has been lifted from three: from the one who is sleeping until he wakes up, from the child until he reaches the age of puberty, and from one who is insane until he comes to his senses.”

(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1343; Ibn Maajah, 3032; al-Nasaa’i, 3378)

A similar hadeeth was also narrated from ‘Aa’ishah in the four books of Sunan apart from al-Tirmidhi.

This hadeeth was classed as hasan by al-Tirmidhi, and by al-Nawawi in Sharh Muslim, 8/14
source: http://islamqa.com/en/ref/9208

Re: Islam and Hip Hop by Brother Ahmad James

Just a comment on that. I don't think its a huge new movement really. It seems to be more like a fad at best. I've read quite a few articles on this supposed movement and those kominas and two other groups are all that are mentioned. It seems like those kominas are just using islam as a tool for some publicity. Basically ABCDs trying to put their name out. I think Imam Webb talked about people like them passingly in a recent lecture.

Re: Lessons From Surah Luqman (part 2)

assalamoalaikum wa rahamatullah

I am greatly enjoying this series of talks and the blog itself

jazakAllahukhayrn

Would it be possible for you to clarify about the three who will be exempt from accountability (sorry I dont remember the hadith clearly) but I think the categories are:-

1) the child
2) those who are mentally unable to understand
3) the ones whom the message didnt reach

What exactly does the third one mean ?Does it apply to current day and what does that message have to be in order for it to mean that one has "received" the message?

Re: Islam and Hip Hop by Brother Ahmad James

I know the article is about Hip Hop and Islam, but I just read an article about a new movement: Punk rock and Islam!

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/08/11/generation.isl...

Imam Suhaib, any comments on this?

Re: Towards Gaining A Sound Understanding of Islam (Part 1 of 2)

are these videos posted recently going to be uploaded in mp3 format or on the podcast so we can download them?

Re: Advice On How To Develop A Relationship With The Qur’an

jzk suhaib for pointing to the book, WTQ, by sh. murad, it can be found online http://islamworld.net/docs/WTQ/index.html

Re: Lessons From Surah Luqman (part 2)

assalamu alaikum,

what exactly is talfiq? Just about any applicant will be admitted, the question is where he/she will place (based on the entrance exams). The administration is not very organized, and since you have to a blood test and other medical exams here (mandatory in one of two Azhar affiliated hospitals), you would have to be here in person.

Wasalaamualaykum

Re: How to Prepare for Ramadan: Sr. Maryam

Jazaki Allah Khayr Maryam! :)

Very useful tips mash'Allah

Re: New Reflections On Shaikh as Sayyid Sabiq’s (r) Fiqh Us-Sunnah

Salaam:

Thanks you for the piece.
